OTTUMWA - Gertie Larue Harrison, 97, formerly of 312 W. Mary St., died at 8 a.m. Feb. 26, 2005, at Bloomfield Care Center, Bloomfield.

She was born Aug. 27, 1907, in Wapello County to Charles and Laura Pearl Bachman Howk. She married John H.W. Johnson Nov. 21, 1928, and he preceded her in death March 30, 1952. She then married John Schoech. He preceded her in death. She then married Ray Harrison and he preceded her in death.

A resident of Wapello County all of her life, she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she helped with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Wilcox of Bloomfield; daughter-in-law Charlotte Johnson of Riverside, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jill Johnson of Riverside, Calif., Colleen Reph of Seattle, Washington, Richard P. Wilcox of Bloomfield, Rowene White of Boone and Julie Jackson of Somerset, Virginia; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Icel Sammons of Ottumwa; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is a son, John Alfred Johnson; two brothers, Ray Howk and Floyd Howk; and two sisters, Ivah Wagner and Olive Farnsworth.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
