OTTUMWA – Elretta D. Wagner, 89, of Sylvan Woods, died at 10:15 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Ottumwa to John J. and Anna L. Bruchman McCartney. She married Charles N. Wagner on Feb. 14, 1939, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father J.B. Decker officiating.

Her husband preceded her in death April 18, 2005.She had worked at John Morrell and Company 1938-1942 and was an Avon representative for five years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a loving mother, homemaker, and was active in 4-H. She enjoyed golf, tennis and racquetball.

Surviving are four sons, Michael Wagner of Golden, Colo., John David Wagner of Keenesburg, Colo., Samuel Wagner and Mark (Anne) Wagner, both of Ottumwa; two daughters, Patricia Counter of Germantown, MD, and Cindy (Tom) Bebernes of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Roxanna Randall of Whittier, Calif.She was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy; granddaughter, Kelly Wagner; and a sister, Gwen Pentzer.Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father John Spiegel officiating. Cremation will follow services. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present 3-5 p.m. Tuesday. A Christian Wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.A memorial has been established to Seton Catholic School.
