OTTUMWA — Leona Rachel Parson, 96, entered her eternal world on Nov. 28, 2007, at Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Sept. 16, 1911 in Foster, Iowa to Richard and Jane Fosenburg Williams. She married Paul A. Parson June 6, 1932. He preceded her in death Nov. 5, 2003.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Order of Eastern Star Ottumwa Chapter #112. She had volunteered for over 35 years at the Ottumwa Senior Citizen Center. Leona was a friend to everyone she met. Above all, Leona was dedicated to her family and they will have many wonderful memories of her.

God is gaining an angel.Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Mastain of Ottumwa and Nancy (Jay) Houk of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a son, David Parson of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Sami Alvarado of Phoenix, Ariz., Fred Houk of Seattle, Wash., David Parson of Des Moines; three great-grandchildren, Michael Alvarado, Candace (Juvenal) Guerrero, Courtney Wilcoxson; three great-great-grandchildren, Treyton, Christian and Jazmyn Guerrero.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dana Wilcoxson; and three sisters, Margaret Saylor, Ruth Morgan and Edith Freed.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Kister officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or Ottumwa Senior Citizen Center.
