OTTUMWA — Jolyn “Jody” Peplow, nee Underwood, age 68, of Buffalo Grove, died at home Nov. 16, 2007.

Born Sept. 28, 1939 in Springfield, Ill., she was the daughter of Jay C. and Melfrancis Underwood. Jolyn’s mother, Melfrancis (Miller) Underwood, was born in Ottumwa, Iowa.Jody graduated from Springfield High School in 1957. She received her B.A. from S.I.U. in 1963 and her M.A. from Pepperdine University in 1978.

After her children finished high school she was employed by the federal in the Chicago area. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles.She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Harold “Joe” Peplow of Buffalo Grove; daughter, Susan Dian Nielsen of Buffalo Grove; son, Christopher Thor (Roxanne) Peplow of Gurnee and son, Ross Miller (Jeff) Peplow of Flossmoor; and four grandchildren, Samantha Peplow, Brianna Nielsen, Devan Peplow and Dane Peplow.

She was preceded in death by her father, J.C. Underwood and mother, Melfrancis Underwood.A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, 6:30 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church 1660 Checker Road, Long Grove Ill.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview Ill. 60025.
