Charles R. Short 56 of 502 South Fellows died Saturday at 7:00 pm at his home.

The son of J.M. & Mary Short, he was born April 7, 1895 at Applegrove, TENN. A resident of Ottumwa for the past 32 years.; he had been an employee for John Morrell and Company for the past nine years.

His marriage to Hattie Eaves took place in 1921.

A veteran of WW I, Mrs. Short enlisted September 17, 1917 at Steedsville TENN.; served with the A.E. F. in Europe from May 11, 1919 and was discharged April 17, 1919 at Ft. Oglethorpe, Ca.

Mr. Short is survived by hus wife; five sons; Donald of Ottumwa,George Jr. in the Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas, Jack, Robert, and Joe Short; all at home; five daughters; Mrs. Beautrice Schultz ,Mrs. Mary Davis,Dorothy Jones and Mrs. Lois Shelton; all of Ottumwa, seven grandchildren; three brothers; Wright Short of Ottumwa, Sidney and Frank Short of Kylsford, Tenn; two sisters; Mrs. Ray Lawson of Kylsford, Tenn., and Mrs. Clayborn Anyz of Kingsport, Tenn., and his step-mother Cornie Short of Kingsport, Tenn.

His parents; one daughter Patty, and two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home Tuesday at 3 pm. Burial will be at Shaul Cemetery.
