OTTUMWA — Leota Frances Jaster Ritter, 85, formerly of 118 S. Union, went to be with the Lord at 9:50 p.m. Nov. 15, 2007, at Vista Woods Care Center.Frances was born March 10, 1922 in Ottumwa to Johnny and Grace Craft Jaster.

She married Earl Ritter on May 30, 1941 in Lancaster, Mo. They later divorced.Frances, a housewife and loving mother, lived most of her married life in Albia, moving back to Ottumwa in 1979. She enjoyed being around people and loved giving out hugs.

She was a member of Myrah Rebekah Lodge #41.Surviving is a son, Donald Ritter of Ottumwa; two daughters, Wilma Kellogg of Albia and Pam (Darrell) Frazier of Ottumwa; ten grandchildren, Brenda (Bill) Hopkins, Betty (Richard) Pilcher, Wendy (Mike) Parcel, Quentin Ritter, Janet Ritter, Jodi Ritter, Saundra Kellogg, Joey (Kelli) Kellogg, Tonya (Rich) Damm, Steve Frazier; seven great-grandchildren, Billie (Teresa) Hopkins, Bruce Hopkins, Amanda Pilcher, Troy Pilcher, Justis Parcel, RJ Damm, Autumn Damm; two great-great-grandchildren, Levi Pilcher, Brayton Hopkins; a sister, Gracie Wood of Blakesburg; nephews, Jim Wood, Mike Wood and Bob Wood, several cousins and many loving friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Ritter; two sisters, Lorena Newell and Myrtle Belle Jaster; son-in-law, Louie “Butch” Kellogg; two brothers-in-law, Jim Wood and Ed Newell; and nephew, Richard Newell.Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Craig Payne officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.Memorials may be made to Hospice, 312 E. Alta Vista, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501, Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation for Sister Suzanne Wickenkamp Pastoral Care Endowment or to the family.
