BLAKESBURG — Hobert J. “Hobie” McClellan, 80, of 21629 30th St., went to be with the Lord November 16, 2007 at his home.

He was born March 17, 1927 in Osceola to David and Netia Garr McClellan. He married Phyllis Kershaw August 2, 1953. Hobert worked at John Morrell and Co. for 30 years until they closed in 1973. He also worked at Shaffer Tractor and Mowers and More until he retired in June 2007. Hobert attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Blakesburg. He moved to the farm in 1960 and greatly enjoyed living there. He also enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader. Hobert was a loving father, grandfather, husband and friend who will be missed dearly.

Surviving is his wife; his children, Mary (Rex) Birchmier of Bloomfield, Tim McClellan of Peoria, Ill., Dan (Debra) McClellan of Albert Lea, Minn., Pat (Susie) McClellan of Bloomfield; and his grandchildren, Danielle and Daniel McClellan of Albert Lea, Minn., Chelsie McClellan of Bloomfield, Sara and Doug Davis of Bloomfield. His dogs, Mutt and Jeff, will miss him greatly. Hobert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian Cavin. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Matheney officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
