OTTUMWA - Ruth Nadine Irvin, 87, of Ottumwa, died at 9:33 a.m. June 29, 2005, at Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Aug. 3, 1917 in Marshalltown to Charles Champaign and Margaret Wignall Springer. She married Othel Ray Irvin Dec. 4, 1951. He preceded her in death Aug. 27,1958.

She had lived in Albia before moving to Mount Pleasant where she had worked as a cook at the Mental Health Institute from 1948 to 1994, moving to Ottumwa in 1994. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Surviving is a sister-in-law, Bessie Springer; a nephew, Dean Springer; three nieces, Roselene Springer, Marguerite Smith and Diane Toll.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lois Springer, Marguerite Springer and Alma Edith Springer; two brothers, Edwin Eugene and Robert Wayne Springer; a niece, Priscilla Springer; and a nephew, Dennis Springer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery near Avery.

Visitation will begin 2 p.m. today at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church.
