Ennis Fears, 86, Ottumwa

OTTUMWA — Ennis W. Fears, 86, of 905 Clinton, went home to be with the Lord at 1:07 a.m. March 28, 2007, at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen Texas, while wintering in Texas.

He was born Dec. 31, 1920 in Mount Moriah, Mo. to Joseph and Carrie Lee Arney Fears. He married Madolyn McAtee Sept. 12, 1942.

A resident of Ottumwa since 1951, he had served with the U. S. Army during World War II, serving in the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. He worked for 32 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in Dec. 31, 1982. He was a member of The Church at Fourth and Washington, Good Sam Club and a lifetime member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving is his wife, Madolyn; two sons, Gary Fears of Walcott and Randy Fears of Bartlett, Tenn.; a daughter, Patricia Simmer of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nema Hornick and Florence Wilson; and two brothers, Neal and Joseph A. Fears.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Gary Cradic officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Church at Fourth and Washington.
