Teddy Songer 1928 - 2007 (Uncle Max)

OTTUMWA - Teddy M. Songer, 79 of 802 Ellis Ave. died at 9:43 p.m. Feb. 25, 2007 at his home.

He was born Jan. 5, 1928 in Wapello County to John S.and Velma B. Sly Songer. He married Edith Maxine Sellwood June 18, 1949 in Ottumwa.

A resident of Ottumwa all of his life, he served in the 13th and 5th Army Air Force during and after World War 11. He worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works as a machinist for 33 1/2 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple and U.A.W. Local #74.

Surviving is his wife, Edith Maxine; one son, Larry (Jennis) Songer of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Chad (Charity) Songer of Caledonia, Mich. and Heather (Nick) Bolin of Cedar Rapids; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Chloe, Rheese, Lilly; a brother Fred Songer of Ottumwa; a sister Mary Little of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Lee Songer; a grandaughter, Misty Dawn Songer; two brothers, John and Paul Songer, a sister, Betty Hudson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ottumwa Baptist Temple with Rev. Randy miller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8:30 Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Otttumwa Baptist Temple.

Transcriber note: Uncle Max is what we called our Uncle. We call his wife Maxine. I will miss Uncle Max very much. I went to Iowa to visit him about twice a year. In former notice; he was at the Reece Funeral Home of Ottumwa in Mondays paper.
