COLUMBUS JUNCTION-Margaret E. McDavitt, 89, of Columbus Junction died Thursday Dec. 20, 2001, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Center in Columbus Junction. Private family services will be held at a later date. Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. McDavitt was born July 12, 1912, in Sigourney, the daughter of Norvel and Anna Schumann Strong. She married Maurice James McDavitt Aug. 20, 1940, in Ottumwa. She was a cook at Molly's restaurant, the University of Iowa-Iowa Memorial Union and retired in 1967 as a cook for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City. She liked to read, watch birds, play bingo and loved music and travel. Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Gartzke of Conesville, five grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and a sister.
