WALTER MCDAVITT

OTTUMWA - Walter B. McDavitt, 78, of 427 N. Van Buren Ave., died at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 14, 1993, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born Nov. 16, 1914, in Ottumwa to Hugh Patrick and Catherine Alice Roach McDavitt. He married Edna Mae Mowrer in 1948. He was a machine operator for John Morrell until his retirement. He served in World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is survived by two sons; Clarence of Fargo, N.D., and Ralph of Omaha; four brothers, William "Mark", Paul, John, and Raymond of Ottumwa; a sister, Margaret Bruns of Tromball, Texas. He was preceded in death by hjis wife; three sons, Hugh, Mark and an infant son; a sister Agnes Cecelia Armentrout; and three brothers Hugh Francis, Clarence Joseph and Maurice James. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery, the Rev. James Grubb officiating. Military services will be performed by Walter B. Schafer Post 775 of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the O.B. Nelson Post 3 of American Legion. The vistation will begin at 5 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the Lung Association. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
