Davenport-JACK WILLIAM HAYES R, Davenport,Iowa, died Saturday September 29, 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 02, 2001, at 10:30 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Davenport,Iowa. Visitation will be today from 4-8 pm. with a Scripture service at 7pm at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport,Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family or to Trinity Hospice in Rock, Island Illinois.
JACK was born March 09, 1936 in Iowa City,Iowa. He was the son of JOHN HAYES and NORMA MARIE STAMP. He was raised in Cook's Point, Davenport. He graduated from St. Alphonsus School in Davenport,Iowa and had completed one year at St. Ambrose University.
He formally was married to THERESA (TEDDY) LOPEZ on July 18, 1953 in Davenport,Iowa. He had worked for 29 years at Frank's Foundry in Davenport, and later worked for the Metropolitan Housing Authority in Rock Island for 10 years. Most recently he had been employed for Burn's Security in Davenport,Iowa.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Davenport and was instrumental in organizing Frank's Foundry in Davenport, and later became President of the union.He was also one of the founders of the Lulac Club in Davenport. For sometime, he was a tax preparer for the Davenport, area.
He is survived by son JACK W. HAYES JR., of Davenport,Iowa and his children; LISA and JACK 111; a son and daughter in law, MICHAEL (HOPPY)and DAWN HAYES of Davenport,Iowa and their daughters TIFFANY,BRITTANY,CORTTANY; daughter and son in law, PENNY and MAX TAPIA of Hampton, Illinois and their children; NIKKI, MAX JR., ALEX and LEE; daughter and son in law, KATHY LOPEZ-MARCELONA and ADOLFO MARCELONA and their children; MATIS, ERIC and MARCO; and brothers, DAVID and LEONARD HAYES;and sisters HELEN MENDEZ and ELIZABETH FULLER. all of Davenport,Iowa.
Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister GERALDINE COLLETT of Ottumwa,Iowa; and a grandson RICHARD (DEWEY) TAPIA. "May they all rest in peace together."
*Jacks mother and father are from Ottumwa,Iowa. They were married at St. marys Catholic Church. GERALDINE married JR. COLLETT of Ottumwa,Iowa.My family connection is through the COLLETT line.
