OTTUMWA -- RICK D. ORMAN, 44, of 110 W. Mary died at 11:47 p.m. July 13, 2002, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington,Iowa, as a result of a competition motorcycling accident in Burlington,Iowa.
He was born April 15, 1958, in Ottumwa,Iowa to CARL EUGENE and BETTY JANE WHISLER ORMAN.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1979, he worked with Orman Construction for the last 25 years. He was involved in all aspects of motorcycling and was a member of A.B.A.T.E. of Iowa, District 14.
Surviving are his parents; a brother, LARRY ORMAN; a sister, PAM EVANS, all of Ottumwa,Iowa; and special friend, MELYNDIA "CLYDE" MCFARLING of Ottumwa,Iowa.
He was preceded in death by a brother, JAMES DEAN ORMAN; grandparents, RUBY WINTERMOTE, DALE WHISLER, OSCAR ORMAN and BERNICE BLACK.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Hornback officiating. There will be a procession to Shaul Cemetery. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be P.J. and Shad Evans, Eric Orman, Dave Benge, Ron Staebler and Paul Linney.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Rump, Doug Young, Paul Stevens, Alan "Barney" Ruble, Rob Gaiter and Bobby Garland.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for an educational fund for Melynda McFarling's children.
