MARY MAGDALENA KITTERMAN, born 03 January 1789,
Frederick County, MD. The oldest child of Thirteen children born to HENRY KITTERMAN and ANNA DANNER, was baptized 09 April 1786 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Woodsboro, Frederick County, MD
She was always referred to as POLLY or AUNT POLLY
and married PTER KITTERMAN(COUSIN) in Franklin County, Virginia 10 March 1809.
In 18120 MARY and PETER as well as all her brothers and sisters and her widowed mother moved to Harrison Co, Indiana. PETER KITTERMAN died between the 1825-1830 and POLLY moved to Perry County, Indiana, and settled in Clark Township. This area whould become known as KITTERMAN CORNERS.
PETER and POLLY were the parents of Seven Children; JOSEPH, married MARTHA ARCHIBALD;
HENRY, married ELIZABETH ENLOW, and ABIGALL ENLOW
JOHN, married MARY JANE SMILEY; ALEXANDER married
ELLEN LYNCH; JOANNA, married HINTON MILLER; WILLIAM HARRISON, married EUPHAMA CHITWOOD, and
REBECCA, married JESSE CHITWOOD.
In the fall of 1842 Polly and her family along with a sister ANNA KITTERMAN ROBERTSON and two of her brothers; ELIAS KITTERMAN and PETER KITTERMAN and their families went to Bureau County, Illinois and spent the winter. When spring came the family started their migration to a new territory. They camped on Surgar Creek to await opening day May 01 1843.
This area would become Wapello County, Iowa.
Four of Polly's children: ALEXANDER, JOANNA, WILLIAM HARRISON and REBECCA by wagon train traveled to Oregon in 1853. JOHN lived in Bureau County, Illinois, HENRY moved to Elk County Kansas and JOSEPH live in Wapello and Keokuk Counties of Iowa.
POLLY died in 1864 and is buried in the KITTERMAN CEMETERY in Wapello County, Iowa
