My name is Janice Redden. I was born and raised in Van Buren Co.. When I was growing up, I always wondered about my great, great, grandfather, but no one in my family had records or seemed to know where he came from. He appeared on the scene in Union Co. Indiana where he married my great, great, grandmother. She died in 1847 in Indiana and he brought himself and the 4 boys to Van Buren Co. where her parent were living. He and the boys were sick when they arrived. He and one of the boys died in December of 1847 leaving no trail as to where he came from. We have been working on this for years. We know her family was Baptist and might have also attended the Methodist church. There were two churches in Utica, Iowa in the early days. One a Baptist and the other a Methodist. Does anyone have any idea who might have these old records to these churches from Utica, Iowa. We don't know but are hoping there might be some records there listing his name, were he came from and who his father and mother were. I would appreicate any help you can give. Thanks in advance.
