Mauk Ferry

Does anyone know of the location of Mauk Ferry, or Mauk's Ferry? My G Grandfather was born there, according to what he put in his Bible. He placed it in Davis County, IA, but I'm wondering if it could have been on the Van Buren county side of the river.
