In Response To: Lost Ancestor (Dave & Kristi Bruner)

On the 1860 census for Scotland county missouri is a William Hartley 36, wife Minerva 29, children Louisa J. 12, Birod 9, John W. 7, James T. 5, Mc B. 2 and a William H. Wilson 32 could be a farm hand or a brother to Minerva. Many of the Iowa families lived in Scotland county, MO, Van Buren and Davis Counties in Iowa. It is worth researching all of these counties as well as Schuyler county in Missouri. If both parents died in the late 1860's all of their children probably are with relatives or friends in one of these counties. They may have moved to Upton before the birth of your ancestor. The Mc B. is probably not right it came from an index of this family.
