Hi Jeanne -
I am not researching the Hale family, but I do have a copy of the Milton Sunnyside Cemetery inscription booklet - and took a quick look for Hale / Harman family members. Your grandparents are listed as:
HARMAN, Addie L. (1886-1979)
HARMAN, Allen J. (1881-1968)I'm pretty confident that Addie's parents are also buried in Sunnyside (along with Paul):
HALE, Charles W. (10 Jul 1857 - 13 Mar 1926)
HALE, May (or Mary) E. (6 Dec 1863 - 17 Sep 1958)
HALE, Paul O. (10 Apr 1885 - 24 Aug 1913)The link that appears to tie Addie together with her parents and brother appears in the 1895 census for Jackson Twp in Van Buren County. You can find the link online here:

(search on HALE)
I didn't immediately see any information on where Alan Jones Harman may have come from - but it appears the Hale / Harman families were pretty closely tied together during the 1800's east of Milton (per obituary data on the VB web site). Both surnames appear frequently in both the Sunnyside Cemetery and also in Egypt Cemetery (which is located northeast of Milton in the country). Egypt cemetery is accessible, but it takes a bit of work to find it.
You mentioned the house by the school. I went to high school in Milton during the early 1980's. I don't specifically remember any large brick houses around the school, but that doesn't mean the house didn't exist. I believe the school itself was torn down in the last 5 years or so.
Hope something in this information helps your research.
Steven
