Hi Jeff,

I think we are probably cousins. I saw your 3/31/2006 query regarding
Charles Davis and his wife Elizabeth in the VanBuren Co IAGenWeb site.
It turns out that your Charles Davis and his brother Alexander (my GG
Grandfather) both married daughters of Henry Carter and wife Susan
(Mary Polly) [Black or Blackburn?] I don't know how much research you
have done into this line, but as you may know your Charles and his
brothers Alexander and David T.[Tagart] Davis all moved to Van Buren
Co. Iowa in the early 1830's from Madison Co. KY. Of course your
Charles wound up in adjoining Scotland Co.MO and David T. in what
became Davis Co. IA.

For years I have tried with meager success to establish more about The
CARTER line, and especially the maiden name of Susan (Mary Polly) wife
of Henry Carter of Berea KY. You can visit Isaac Davis's grave (b.
1766 d.1847) at the Macedonia Cemetery near there.

I might suggest the following web site of Ran Raider as a great help
into our DAVIS line.
I contributed the picture of the Isaac Davis farm in Berea that you
