Excerpts from "History of Lewis, Clark, Knox and Scotland Counties, Missouri, 1887," Pp.1164-1165, Biography of Isaac P. Davis:

Isaac P. Davis, b. 05 June 1826, Madison Co., KY, 3rd of 10 children of Charles and Elizabeth Carter Davis, natives of MD and probably of KY. The father served as a county judge of Van Buren Co., IA for 2 years, was a life-long Democrat. He was of Welsh-Irish stock, his grandmother being a native of Ireland, and his great-grandfather a native of Wales. The grandfather, Isaac Davis, was a native of MD, afterward lived and died in KY...Charles and Elizabeth Davis moved to Montgomery Co., MO when Isaac P. was eight years old, soon after went to what is now Van Buren Co., IA.They came to Scotland Co., MO in 1849 where Isaac P. has since resided...Isaac P. Davis married Talitha J. Weekly, dau of S.G. Weekly, 13 March 1856...nine children, three deceased (in 1887)...Isaac P. Davis commanded Co. C, 29th MO Cavalry of State Militia during the Civil War.
