Boyd Family in Lick Creek, IA

My wife's mother is a Boyd, who is descended from Hiram Boyd (b:1846). He and his brother, James (b:1845) settled in Mitchell County, KS in the mid 1870's. From KS Census data, we know that Hiram and James were born in IA.

I have discovered a Christy Family in the 1850 IA Census which shows a Stephen, John, James and Hiram Boyd living with James (b:1793 PA) and Mary (b:1819 IA)Christy. Based on the Census data, these are our family's James and Hiram.

Does anyone have information about this Boyd family? I suspect that Mary Christy is the widow of the Boyd children's father, who was b: in Ireland.

Are there ancestors surviving that we could contact??
