On the 15th of May1893, a Mr. George P. Stevens died in or near Farnam, Dawson county, Nebraska. He was buried in the Farnam cemetery, which is located in Frontier county. There is a web site for such but the name on his headstone has not been noticed until today!!. In searching for more info, it was found that he was a veteran of the Civil War, Co. I, 19th Iowa Infantry enlisting at the age of 22, living at Bentonsport, Iowa and then being mustered out on 31 May 1865 at New Orleans, LA. Further searching revealed a listing on the 1870 census of Van Buren county, IA at age 30 with wife and infant. Would like to find out more about this man and his family, when he came to Nebraska and what he did for a 'work in progress' of early settlers of this area of Nebraska. Thank you.
