Sheridan Cresswell.

Sheridan Cresswell was born in Harrisburg township Van Buren Co Iowa, July 17, 1850, and died at his home in Cedar Falls, Iowa, at 3:30 P.M. Jan. [date missing] 1911. He lived in Harrisburg township until recent years. In June 1909, he went to Cedar Falls to care for his brother, Edwin, during the days of a long fatal illness, and spent the remainder of his life there.

Mr. Cresswell had a serious illness in his young manhood which left him more or less of an invalid during the remainder of his life, thus he was debarred from participating in many of active duties and enjoyments of life. About the new year, he suffered an attack of grip with other complications but seemed to be recovering when he was suddenly stricken by apoplexy and passed without a struggle into the eternal life.

The suffering and pain that he was forced to endure seemed only to deepen his quiet uncomplaining nature and to intensify his sympathies for others.

Naturally a somewhat shy retired man and forced by lack of physical strength to lead a quiet life, he made an unusual host of friends. To know him was to love and respect him. The kindness, the patience, the expressions and acts of his everyday life showed his faith in the Divine Father. He did his part to make this world purer and better.

Funeral services were held at the home of his brother, John, in Harrisburg township, Sunday afternoon, Jan. 22. Services were in charge of Rev. T.L. Smith with interment in the Vale cemetery.
