MRS. HINDA WORK DIES IN OTTUMWA

WIDOW OF LAWYER WAS FORMER RESIDENT OF COUNTY

Mrs. Hinda Marlow Work, 83 years old, resident of Ottumwa for nearly half a century and widow of W. A. Work, prominent Ottumwa and Keosauqua lawyer, died at 12:30 a. m. Friday at 304 North Court street in the home in which she had lived for the past forty-three years. Mrs. Work had been ill for several months. Her husband preceded her in death May 19, 1919.

Mrs. Work was born April 28, 1849, at Keosauqua, the daughter of Benjamin P. Marlow and Mrs. Hannah Hinkle Marlow. Her father was for many years a prominent merchant in Keosauqua. She was married to W. A. Work October 7, 1869, in Keosauqua.

Of the family of eight children, two, Herbert and Theodosia, died in infancy. Three sons and three daughters survive, Dr. Craig M. Work, Benjamin M. Work and Emmett A. Work of Ottumwa, Mrs. Esther B. Myers of Friday Harbor, Wash., Mrs. Ruth E. Capps of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Stella E. Gibson of Ottumwa. Seven grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Work was a life-long member of the First Methodist Episcopal church and of the Good Will Sunday school class of the church here.
