MELINDA MOORE MUNSELL

Melinda Moore Munsell, only daughter of Alvin and Elizabeth Moore, was born in the state of Ohio. When a small child her parents came to Iowa and settled near Milton, where she lived all of her life. She was born August 2, 1850 and died at Keosauqua, Iowa, June 30, 1932, making her almost 82 years old. She lived to make many friends and to see many changes during the period of her alloted time here on earth.

She was married to Charles Munsell, March 5, 1869, and to this union six children were born, two, a son and a daughter having gone on before. There are three daughters, Mrs. Laura Boyd, of Milton, Iowa; Mrs. Belle Wandel, of Snyder, Colorado; Mrs. Cora Barret of Altus, Oklahoma; and one son, John Munsell, of Jacksonville, Oregon; Mrs. Boyd being the only one present at this particular time. Also 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a few other relatives and many friends and acquaintances are left to bear her life in memory.

Mrs. Munsell was an honest hard working woman, never wanting to depend upon anyone, therefore she lived for several years alone in her little home and by hard work and frugal means was independent of any help, until her health failed, when she was taken care of in a manner befitting any good citizen. She was a great reader and read good books and daily papers, thus always knowing the economic conditions and history, both biblical and profane.

Thus a life of four score years is ended here, to begin again in that home of the soul.

Funeral services were conducted at the Burnett funeral parlors at four o'clock Friday afternoon, July 1st, by Elder H. C. Shaw, of Cantril, and the remains interred in Sunnyside cemetery by the side of her father and mother.
