Burned to death.
Master Harry Adrian Martin, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Martin, was burned to death Monday. The Martin family live on the Ryland farm north of town where Mr. Martin operates a coal mine. Mr. Martin and his son were working in the mine and the little boy was playing in the shanty near the entrance.
Shortly before noon they were alarmed by the cries of the boy whom they heard coming down the entrance of the mine with his clothing in flames. "Papa, the shanty is on fire."
His body was terribly burned before the flames could be extinguished, and he died about six o'clock the same day. The shanty was entirely destroyed and with it two cans partly filled with powder.
He was four years old January 28. Funeral services are to be held Wednesday. He is of a family of seven children.
{Note: Though not easy to read the month, it appears to be handwritten as "Apr 20 08"]
