James C: Lynch, Milton Cafe Owner Dies in Ottumwa
James C. Lynch, 55, owner of Jim's Cafe in Milton for nearly 16 years, died about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, August 18, at Sunnsyslope sanitarium in Ottumwa, where he had been a patient since April 27.
Mr. Lynch was born in Blue Mound, Illinois, the son of Anthony and Anatatatia Lynch. He spent most of his early life in that vicinity and later lived at Decatur, Illinois, where re served as brakeman for the Wabash railway for a number of years.
In 1906 he came to Fairfield, Iowa, and in 1910 was married to Zeruah Howard of that city. They spent several years in Fairfield, Newton and Fort Madison, coming to Milton sixteen years ago, where they purchased a cafe.
Mr. Lynch is survived by his widow of Milton; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Saner, of Springfield, Illinois, and Mr.(Mrs.) George Saner, of Decatur, Illinois and two brothers, Tim Lynch of Dectur, Illinois, and Mark Lynch, of Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 20, at the St. Mary's Catholic church in Fairfield, conducted by the Rev. E.F. Gaule. Casket attendants were Frank Danielson, Fred Jericho, A.D. Long, Charles Sullivan, J.V. Miller and James M. Hammon. Interment was in in the Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield.
Among the out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral services were Mrs. Frank Saner and Mark Lynch of Springfield, Illinois; Mrs. George Saner and son, George of Decatur, Illinois, Tim Lunch of Decatur, Illinois, and B.A. Howard of Macon, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Haney of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Emma Myers, Edward Dills, Mr. and Mrs. Bent Humbert, Mrs. Katie Rickey, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Ritz and daughter, Katherine, Irvin Hartwig, Elizabeth Wandel, Lala McLeland and William Yeast, all of Milton, Mrs. W.W. Wellborn and Mrs. Nola Augsparger, of Cantril.
