ELDON PIONEER DEAD

Edward P. Howard, Twenty-five Years
Resident There, Dies at
Age of 77.

Eldon, Jan. 6. — (Special.) — Edward P. Howard, one of Eldon’s best known and oldest business men, passed away at his home yesterday afternoon at the advanced age of 77 years. He was born in 1832 and came to Iowa forty-seven years ago. He has resided in Eldon for the past twenty-five years. His wife survives.

While able to do so, Mr. Howard was one of the pushing business men of the city and has been identified with the Congregational church, of which he was a life deacon.

The funeral will be held from the Congregational church Friday afternoon at 2 o’clcok and interment will be made in the Eldon cemetery.
