BY CHLOROFORM ROUTE.

CHAS. HARLAN SUICIDES.

"I am tired of this way of living. I have left a will at the bank." These are words found in a note written by Charles Harlan of Stockport previous to killing himself by the use of chloroform.

The cause of his despondency is supposed to be sickness and pain caused by spinal trouble from which he had been suffering for some time.

He was a young man and lived with his step-mother, his parents being dead. In his note he requested that no funeral service be held and his wishes were complied with except that on Saturday afternoon before the interrment in the Spencer cemetery a few songs were sung at the home.

He was found in an upstairs bed room lying on the bed room lying on the bed with a coat thrown over his head and a chloroform bottle about one-third full in his hand. When found he was not quite dead, a few beats of the heart being perceptible.

He left a will at the bank disposing of some real estate and money. Evidently it was not financial stringency that caused him to take his own life.
