Louisa Martin was born July 15, 1849, near Roodhouse, Ill., and died Jan 2 1912, at her home in Bentonsport, Ia., aged, 62 yrs. 7 months and 18 days.

April 16, 1867, she was joined in marriage to Joshua R. Guthrie of Roodhouse, Ill., and to this union were born 9 children, only 4 of whom are living: Mrs. Katie Prunty and Mrs. Lizzie Shanklin of Medford, Okla., Mrs. Emma Hooper of Bonaparte, Iowa; and an only son, Ernest L. Guthrie of Bentonsport, Iowa; all of whom were present at the interment at Martins Prairie cemetary [sic] near Roodhouse Ill.

She lived a consistent christian life. Her loss is mourned by her husband, 4 children, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and many friends. "She hath done what she could."
