A. Martin was born in Mount Zion, Iowa, November 25, 1841. In early manhood he moved to Troy, Iowa, where he was married in 1867 to Miss Mary Kerr. In 1895 he moved to Okoloma, Mississippi, where he lived until the day of his death, August 10, 1927. He was the owner of a large plantation near Okolona. For a time he was engaged in the mercantile business and also in the ice business.

His wife preceded him fours years, having died January 12, 1923
He is survived by the following children:
F. J. Martin, St. Louis, Missouri: Mrs. C.R. Walker, Okolona, Mississippi; Mrs. D.C. Harwood, Douds, Iowa; Jennie Martin, Okolona, Mississippi; E.C. Martin, Denver, Colorado; W.S. Martin,
New York; and Mrs. W.A. Dempsey, Kansas City, Missouri; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Note:
Mr Martin was the son of Abner Martin and Louisa White Martin of Van Buren County, Iowa.
