Ernest E. Evans, son of William and Sarah Evans, was born October 6, 1876, at Troy, Iowa, and passed away at Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua, April 24, 1961.

He was united in marriage to Gertrude Piper, who preceded him in death December 7, 1941. They were the parents of seven children.

On December 10, 1944, he married Mrs. Grace Shaw, who died February 4, 1961.

Ernie was a painter and paper hanger more than fifty years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Earl and Gale of Milton; three daughters, Mrs. Floyd Lancaster and Mrs. Carl Hamberg of Cantril and Mrs. Quentin Hudson of Cedar Rapids; three stepchildren, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Wolfe and Mrs. Dorothy Wolfe.

Memorial services were held at the Cantril Methodist Church, April 25th, in charge of Elder Herbert C. Shaw and the Rev. Karl Cannady. The vocalists were Mrs. Jim Charbonneau and Mrs. Maynard Manske, accompanied by Mrs. S.E. Wellborn. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.
