Mrs. Nancy M. Whitten 1-26-1937

Nancy M. Whitten, daughter of William and Sarah Morrison, was born May 25, 1853, in Ross county, Ohio. At the age of seven she was brought by her parents to Van Buren county where she spent the remainder of her life. She was united in marriage to J. E. (Jefferson Eugene) Whitten 1 Dec 1870, at Pittsburg, Iowa. To them were born nine children. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters and one son. Those surviving are. W. E.(William Elonson) Whitten, of Saguache, Colo., C. H. (Clifton)Whitten of Coon Rapids, Iowa, J. J. (Jefferson J.)Whitten of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Mrs. F. A. Nelson, Mrs. F. B. Koonts and Mrs. Geo. Zachau, all of Douds, Iowa. Ten Grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, one sister of Esterville, Iowa, and three brothers all of Keosauqua, Iowa.
After the death of her husband, she remained on the farm for a few years, later moving to Leando which was her home at the time of her death. Funeral services were held on Thurdsay, Jan 28, 1:30 p.m. at the Pedrick funeral home in charge of Rev. Moore. Interment at Valentine cemetery.
