Andrew William Morrison, third son of William and Sarah Hellyer Morrison, was born Oct 31, 1857, and passed from this life April 3, 1942, after several weeks illness at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 3 days. At an early age he came from Ohio to Iowa by covered wagon with his parents, two brothers and two sisters. His father lost his life early in the Civil War, leaving his wife and children to carry on as best they could. He was one of Van Buren county's pioneer farmers, where the greater part of his long life was spent.
Early in life he united with the Methodist church and so remained until his death. He was united in marriage to Hester Ann Hollen, Sept. 2, 1878, to this union were born four children, Fred E. of Bard, Calif., James E. of Keosauqua, Della May, late of Ft. Madison, and Lester J. of Ft. Madison.
His wife and daughter preceded him in death several years ago.
On June 16, 1933, he was married to Mrs. Rosella Scotten, and spent his last years as a retired farmer in Milton. He leaves his wife, three sons, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, also one sister, one half brother to mourn the loss of a true husband, father and friend. He was interned in Pittsburg cemetery.
