Susannah Elizabeth Hollen "Susie" Morrison.
Susie E. Morrison, daughter of Robert E. and Isabell Franklin Hollen was born near Harrisburg, Penn, Sept 27, 1856 and died at Ottumwa, Iowa, Nov 17, 1952. Age 96 years 1 month and 21 days. She was one of a family of eight children and is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Duffield of Tingley, Iowa, and one half sister, Mrs. Rosella Morrison of Eldon, Iowa.
She was married to Emmett F. Morrison at Keosauqua, Iowa on Oct 10, 1875, and has lived most of her life in Van Buren County. To this union were born nine children. Two died in infancy and Ella passed away in December, 1949. Surviving are: Howe Irving of Wheatland, Wyoming
Roy Lester of Frankford, Mo., Bert William of Libertyville, Iowa, Ray Emmett of Cheyene, Wyoming. Mrs. Harry Dodds of Bonaparte, Iowa and Mrs. Clifford Blackburn of Selma, Iowa. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. One grandson and one great grandson having preceded her in death. In early life she united with the Methodist church at Pittsburg, Iowa, and after moving to the Center Chapel neighborhood had her membership transferred there. Upon Mr. Morrisons death she left the farm and with her daughter Ella moved to Birmingham, Iowa where she took an active part in church work as long as her health permitted.Note left by her daughter Minnie Morrison Dodds states that "Mothers brothers were railroad men, and her Father a Carpenter by trade."
