Fanchon C. Dodds, 91 of Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, died Monday evening, January 6, 1997, at the center where she has lived the past several years. She was born April 9, 1905 in Utica, Iowa to Lute Wallace and Iowa Rose Johnston Dodds.
She graduated from Stockport High School in 1924 and taught country school for several years. Later she was employed by the U. S. Treasury Department in both Washington, D. C. and Chicago, Ill until she retired January 1, 1969. Fanchon was a 50 year member of Stockport Chapter 544 Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by one brother, Harve Dodds of Stockport and several nieces and nephews. Fanchon was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and five brothers.
She will be remembered as a compassionate, trusting person of true Christian character. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 1997 at the Stockport Christian Church, Pastor Milton Duhon officiating. Burial was in Miller Chapel near Keosauqua. Memorials have been established for either the Stockport Christian Church or the Stockport Public Library. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, was in charge of arrangements.
