OBITUARY

Charles O. Sherod, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Sherod, was born in Van Buren county Iowa, May 26, 1872, and was killed by a run-away team, April 11, 1896, at St. Clair, Nevada. Charley had always remained at home until March 9, last, when, in company with three young men, he started for Nevada, where they went to work, and where the accident occurred. He was a nice quiet young man, always kind to those around him. He united with the Presbyterian church at Mt. Zion in the winter of 1888 and ever afterwards lived a christian life. He was indeed a loving son and brother. Funeral services were held near by where he was killed, the sermon being by Rev. Hicks, assisted at the grave by Mr. Harmon. The church was crowded notwithstanding it was a very disagreeable day, and his body was laid to rest in the cemetery near by.
