From Milton Herald, 2 July 1931, p. 5, item 15.

Sarah Elizabeth McIntire, oldest daughter of Robert B. and Cassie McIntire was born near Milton, Iowa, October 22, 1855, and died at the home of her daughter, Clara A. Ingersoll, in Des Moines Iowa, Wednesday June 24, 1931.

She grew to womanhood in the home of her parents and, on April 29, 1877, was united in marriage with Asa Jackson Blanchard, and they moved to a farm east of Milton where all their children were born, until the death of her husband Sept 20, 1916. To this happy union were born four children. Clara A. Ingersoll of Des Moines, Vernie M. Davidson of Burlington, Ada Mae Van Fleet, deceased, and William D. Blanchard of Des Moines.

Mrs. Blanchard united with the Christian Church of Cantril, Iowa and has always been a member of this organization. She was of a quiet, unassuming disposition, loving and caring for her own and her home home above everything else, besides being a kind and helpful neighbor and friend to all those with whom she came in contact. Such a life will live on after the living body has passed beyond to that realm from where no traveler ever returns.

Besides leaving the three children she also leaves to mourn one sister, Mrs. Addie Dunham of Sacramento Calif., eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

“Tis sad to lose a mother, but the memory of one so kind, thoughtful and care taking as this one, will always be pleasant, soothing and helpful for the ones left to mourn.

After a life of more than three score years and ten, this good woman has passed to the home of the soul where sorrow, pain and suffering are no more, and her life should be an example for all those who have known and been under the influence of such an excellent environment.
