SUSAN JANE GREEN

Susan Jane Green, daughter of John F. and Jane Babel Harbison, was born February 7, 1949, in Fairfield, and departed this life Sunday, July 23, 1978, at University Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

She was raised in Keosauqua, graduated from Van Buren Community High School and from the State University of Iowa at Ames, and taught school five years in Slater, Iowa.

On August 31, 1969, she was married in Keosauqua to Stanley J. Green, and their home was presently in Adel, Iowa. They were the parents of one son, Andrew Curtis, four years old.

In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by her parents; a sister, Ann Gilchrist of Park Forest, Illinois; a brother, Dr. John W. Harbison of Richmond, Virginia; an uncle, Dr. John S. Babel of Monterey Park, California; four nieces, three nephews, three cousins; other relatives and many friends. Susan's life was rich with experiences; she loved to do things for others and had many dear friends.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, joining as a young girl and always a faithful member. She belonged also to the Van Buren County Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; Lynds Chapter No. 27, Order of Eastern Star; and Beer-Barker Unit, American Legion Auxiliary, all at Keosauqua; DK Chapter of the National T.T.T. Society in Ames and Omicron Nu Sorority.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 26, 1978, at 2 p.m. at the Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Cornish and the Rev. Mervin Nelson of Adel offiaciating [sic]. Mrs. Fred Parsons was the soloist and Mrs. Harold Jamison the organist. Pallbearers were Don Clark, Steve Webber, Gary Kingsbury, Wayne Miller, Gene Stout, and Jim Turner. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery at Keosauqua. Arrnagements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home. Memorials were established for the Keosauqua Methodist Church and the American Cancer Society.
