FAYE E. WELLS
Faye Evelyn Wells, daughter of Carl and Nancy Foster McManis, was born May 9, 1911, near Cantril and departed this life Thursday, June 29, 1978, at her home in Eldon at the age of 67.
On June 12, 1929 she married Leonard E. Wells at Milton. They farmed near Cantril, several years near Rose Hill, and moved to the Selma community in 1942. They moved to Eldon in 1964, where Leonard was cashier of the First National Bank.
Faye was employed a number of years as a nurse's aide and ward clerk at Ottumwa Hospital. She was a member of the Eldon Christian Church, and Chapter CG, P.E.O. at Eldon.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, two sons, Ross of Brunswick, Missouri and his wife, Alice, and Carl of Shafter, California and his wife Janet. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Mike, Allen, Pamela, Kimberly, and Steven Wells and Debbie Reyes, a brother Col. Thayne McManis of San Antonio, Texas, other relatives and many friends.
Her parents and a brother, Ford, preceded her in death.
Faye will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, a kindly aide to those she cared for in the hospital and a good neighbor and friend.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 2, 1978 at 2 p.m. at the Eldon Christian Church with the Rev. Earl Menning, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were John Hoy, Martin Cox, Dean Dooley, Lex Miller, Gene Bitner, and Pete Stribling. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril. Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, was in charge of the arrangements. A memorial was established for her church.
