MERLIN WALKER
Merlin A. Walker, 71, of 1305 Locust, Ottumwa, Iowa, died the morning of January 28 at Ottumwa Hospital.
He was born December 10, 1907, near Stockport to Ed and Catherine Madden Walker. He was a federal meat inspector for 38 years and retired in 1968. He married Grace Gardner on May 29, 1934, in Bonaparte. He was a graduate of Stockport High School and attended Parsons College. He taught in schools in Van Buren County before becoming a meat inspector. He was a member of East End Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of Elks Lodge No. 347.
Survivors: his wife; sons John of Monroeville, Ala., and Dennis, Carter Lake;; [sic] a daughter, Carolyn Vos of New Sharon; a brother, Edwin of Keosauqua; sisters, Margaret Regur of Keosauqua and Mytrle [sic] Rehkoph of Ottumwa; and five grandchildren.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 1979 at Shrine of Memories Funeral Home, the Rev. Stanley Petts of East End Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial: Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
