ORVILLE L. BUTTS

Orville L. Butts, son of Anthony and Mary Hayes Butts, was born May 5, 1894, in Montezuma and departed this life Friday, January 5, 1979, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 84.

On November 19, 1913, he married Beulah Potts, who died in 1976. Also preceding him in death were a daughter and two sons.

Remaining to cherish his memory are a daughter, Marie Archibald of Keosauqua;; [sic] four sons, Robert and Kenneth, both of ElCajon, Calif.; Charles of El Segundo, Calif.; and Paul of LaPalma, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mildred Noftsger of Des Moines and a brother, Earl Butts of Ottumwa, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Butts operated a used car business in Ottumwa before moving to Agency, where he was in the well-drilling business until his retirement. He had resided the past two years at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a good citizen and friend.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 9, 1979, at 11 A. M. at the Agency United Methodist Church, with Rev. Gerald McGee officiating. Interment was in Shaul Cemetery at Ottumwa. A memorial was established for the Agency United Methodist Church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
