CLARE WILEY

Clare Wiley, 82, former Birmingham area resident died January 9, 1979 with cancer in a hospital at Beloit, Kansas, where he had been a patient since last November. Memorial services and burial were held January 13, 1979 at Jewell, Kansas.

Wiley was born November 28, 1896 on a farm west of Birmingham. He served in World War I, after returning home he went to California and was employed there for several years. Returning to the Birmingham area, he married Amber Williams Martin of Birmingham. After living in Missouri for several years, he moved to Kansas and later married Bernice Wiley. They lived on a farm near Jewell, Kansas until his retirement when they moved to the town of Jewell.

His wife Bernice preceded him in death July 13, 1975 and his son Robert about 10 years ago.

Wiley is survived by a stepson, Harold Martin and a sister, Mable Johns of Tulsa, Okla. He had two sisters that are deceased, Lura Parrott and Lea Whorton, a brother Lester Wiley who passed away Sept. 20, 1978 and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Wiley.

Name of newspaper and date of obit not given, however, handwritten at the top of the obit is "18 Jan 1979 VB Co Reg.") ORIGINAL POST 15 Sep 1999.
