Edith D. McIntosh

Edith Duffield McIntosh, daughter of C. Edgar and Mary Hollen Duffield, was born June 4, 1901 on the Duffield family farm near Pittsburg and departed this life early Thursday March 15, 1990 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr at the age of 88.

She graduated from Keosauqua High school, attended the University of Iowa, and taught in Van Buren County rural schools.

She married Dr. J.A. McIntosh May 31, 1924 in Des Moines. They lived thirty years in Tingley, Iowa, where she assisted her husband in his osteopathic medical practice. They retired to their farm near Keosauqua in 1956. Dr. McIntosh was a member of Keosauqua Congregational Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Auxiliary and P.E.O., and had been active in other community organizations in Tingley and Keosauqua.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her son, James and his wife, Mary Sue of Tingley, with whom she had lived most of the time since her husband's death, a grandson, Dr. William E. McIntosh and his wife, Tracy, Carroll, Iowa, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The body was cremated. Memorial services were held Sunday, March 18, 1990 at 2 p.m. in the Keosauqua Congregational Church with Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Private interment of the cremains was in Pittsburg Cemetery. A memorial was established for her church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
