Beulah Scott Pedrick

Beulah Scott Pedrick, daughter of Earl and Bertha Burden Scott, was born June 1, 1902 near Birmingham and died the afternoon of Thursday, December 6, 1990 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 88.

She married Clarence E. Pedrick February 18, 1925 in Fairfield. He died April 14, 1982.

She graduated from Birmingham High School, attended Parsons College and Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, taught in rural Van Buren County schools, assisted her husband in the operation of Pedrick Funeral Home, and in later years managed the family farms.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Douds and had held numerous church offices including serving on the official board when the present church building was built and many years as a member of the worship and memorial committees. She had served as superintendent of the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was a Past President of United Methodist Women. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Iowa Retail Hardware Association, Past Matron of Twin City Chapter No. 258, Order of Eastern Star, had been a District Instructor in Eastern Star and was a charter member of the Douds Book Club.

Remaining to cherish her memory are a son, Robert and his wife, June of Keosauqua, two grandchildren, Kathleen Humble and her husband, Monte of Birmingham and James Pedrick and his wife, Gwen of Muscatine, four great grandchildren, Adam and Emily Humble and Stephen and David Pedrick, a brother Charles Scott and his wife, Beulah of Birmingham, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 10, 1990 at 11 a.m. in Christ United Methodist Church, Douds, with Rev. Robert G. Farr and Rev. Stephen Metcalf-Conte officiating. Interment was in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds. Eastern Star services were held at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds. A memorial was established for her church.
