Vada Anderson Shott, 89, of Redwood City, Calif., died at 5 a.m. January 27, 1990, in Redwood City.
She was born December 7, 1900, near Douds to Zachariah and Fannie Hanshaw Anderson. She married Ralph N. Shott on January 1, 1925, in Chicago; he died Oct. 20, 1977.
She was a resident of the Douds and Birmingham communities all of her life. She had lived in Oak Grove community, where she went to school until the family moved to Birmingham. She graduated Birmingham High School. She worked for many years as a clerk at the Birmingham Post Office. She moved to California in the early 1970s after retiring. She was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, George of San Francisco, Calif., and Ralph of Fairfield; a daughter, Martha Puff of Redwood City, Calif.; four grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Linn of Guerney, Ill., Florence Louth and Margaret Lovedy of Birmingham; and two brothers, Frederick Anderson of Fairfield and Ross Anderson of Mount Pleasant.
The service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 1, 1990 at the Birmingham United Methodist Church, the Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Birmingham United Methodist Church or United Sclerodermo Foundation.
Arrangements were in charge of Burch-Raymond Funeral Home at Birmingham.
