Edward A. Leyden

Edward A. Leyden, son of John and Bessie Van Brogen Leyden, was born December 23, 1911 at Leighton, Iowa and departed this life the afternoon of Saturday, October 27, 1990 at Parkview Care Center, Fairfield, at the age of 78.

He married Edna Laughlin June 20, 1936 at the Methodist Church in Fairfield. They farmed near Douds and Birmingham, and retired to Birmingham in 1979. Ed also did carpenter work.

The Leydens attended the Oak Grove Church near Douds.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Edna, a daughter, Caroline Pencil and her husband Larry, a son, Dwayne Leyden and his wife, Bonnie, all of Birmingham, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surving(err) are four brothers, Robert, Bill and Donald, all of Mt. Pleasant and Jack of Coalville, Utah; five sisters, Mabel Minarsich, Patty Kelly and Dorothy Garmoe, all of Mt. Pleasant, Betty Harper, Davenport, and Anna Mae Jamesbee, Des Moines, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in derath(err) were three brothers, Ernest, Marion and Henry and three sisters, Margaret, Carrie and Darlene.

Funeral services were held Tuesday October 30, 1990 at 11 a.m. in the Birmingham United Methodist Church with Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham. A memorial was established. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
