Edgar Hamberg

Edgar Burton Hamberg, 75, of Conroy, died January 2, 1990 at his home.

He was born November 8, 1914 in Carmen, Illinois to Axel and Clara Brooks Hamberg. He married Helen Cortum on November 8, 1945 in Bloomfield.

He attended school in Mt. Sterling and had lived in Davis, Van Buren and Wright counties until moving to Conroy in 1971. He was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator and was custodian for Williamsburg schools for 10 years until retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of World War II and member of American Legion in Cantril and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Williamsburg.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Frank of Conroy; three daughters, Alice Honn of Oxford, Karen White and Linda Schwarting of Williamsburg; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Paradies of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur of Farmington; and four sisters, Alda Brownlee of Phoenix, Arizona, Doris Wheaton of Pulaski, Lucille Edwards of Farmington and Audrey Ahlberg of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

The service was held Friday, January 5, 1990 at Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Rev. Harry Imlay officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.

Memorials have been established.
