Gilbert J. Burling

Gilbert J. Burling, son of Andrew and Agnes Groves Burling, was born May 23, 1904 at San Jose, Illinois and died early Sunday, February 25, 1990 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua at the age of 85.

He moved with his family to Van Buren County in 1918, farmed near Cantril and Bentonsport, and had lived with Wallace and Janet Marner in Bentonsport the past eight years.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Surviving are a sister, Grace Cannon, Keosauqua, two nieces, Margie Welch, Peoria, Ill., Ruth Dozel, Chicago, a nephew, Frank Harris, Ottawa, Illinois, neighbors and friends.

Three sisters, Rowena Harris, Isabel Burling and Willa Jamison preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 27, 1990 at 1:30 P.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Chrisa Ferguson officiating. Interment was in Lebanon Cemetery west of Keosauqua.
